How Hire Works

Straightforward hire with no surprises. Here is how it goes.

Dry or wet hire

Run it yourself (dry hire), or have our experienced operator do the work for you (wet hire). Great for landscaping, trenching, post holes and clean-ups.

No licence needed

No licence or ticket required to use the excavator on your own private property for your own project.

Tow it or we deliver

Pick it up and tow it on a suitable trailer, or let us deliver and collect from $55 — see delivery rates above.

Fuelled and ready

Runs on diesel and comes with a full tank. Just return it full. If it comes back low, we charge for the fuel used.

What Our Customers Say

Great service from Ladbrokes Hire! The whole process was straightforward and professional, with reliable equipment and everything clearly explained. The excavator was exactly what we needed for the job, and the team were easy to deal with and very helpful. Great communication, competitive pricing and a hassle-free experience. Would definitely recommend Ladbrokes Hire to anyone needing quality excavator or plant hire around Geelong!

I have used Ladbrokes Hire several times now and every time I have called they have done an amazing job getting everything I needed out to me, and worked with me closely to get the best use out of their machine — an almost brand new Kubota. Rates are really fair, and as I run a trade business they wanted to do ongoing business with even better rates. I love a business that will work with you — you will not get this kind of customer service from the big mobs.

I had the pleasure of doing business with Ladbrokes Hire. We hired the 2.5t excavator and could not be happier with the experience — the machine was well looked after and arrived on time. The customer service was exceptional too. We will definitely be hiring machinery through Ladbrokes again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you charge a deposit?

No — there is no bond and nothing is held on your card. You pay for the hire and any delivery, and that is it. We simply ask that the machine comes back on time, in good order and with the fuel topped up. You remain responsible for any damage beyond fair wear and tear.

Do I need a licence to hire an excavator?

No. You do not need a licence or ticket to operate the excavator on your own private property. They are straightforward to use and we will run you through the controls.

How do I get the machine to my site?

Tow it yourself on a suitable trailer, or we can deliver and collect it — from $55 within 8km of Geelong, covering both the drop-off and the collection.

Is it dry hire or does it come with an operator?

Both. Take it dry hire and run it yourself, or book wet hire and we supply an experienced operator. A half-day wet hire (machine + operator) can be booked online above, or call 0411 743 494 for longer jobs.

What is the minimum hire period?

A half day (4 hours) is our minimum. For longer jobs, daily and weekly rates work out cheaper, and the weekly rate kicks in from 5 days.

Which areas do you cover?

Geelong, the Surf Coast and the Bellarine Peninsula. Not sure if you are in range? Give us a call on 0411 743 494.

How do I book?

Pick your dates on any machine above and book online, or call us on 0411 743 494 and we will sort it out.

Which Machine Do You Need?

Two machines cover almost every job around Geelong. Here is how to pick between them.

Tight access

1.7 Tonne Kubota

$275 per day, inc GST

Retracts to 0.99 m, so it fits through a standard gate or doorway, then widens to 1.24 m once it is through. This is the one for backyards, side passages, courtyards and anything behind a fence. Digs to 2.3 m.

Book the 1.7T

Room to work

2.5 Tonne Kubota

$350 per day, inc GST

More weight, more reach, more depth. Digs to 2.8 m and reaches 4.7 m, so it handles deeper trenches, footings and bigger site prep. Needs about 1.5 m to get in. The one for driveways, new builds and acreage.
